Loch Ness Monster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg Turns 40

June 7, 2018

The Loch Ness Monster roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg turned 40 years old yesterday (6/6/2018). This coaster is an Arrow custom looper, featuring the worlds only remaining pair of interlocking loops, which means that there is one loop that threads into another. (Picture above by Busch Gardens Williamsburg). This ride is 130 ft tall, it goes 60 miles per hour, it is 3, 240 feet long, it has two lift hills and two inversions. To celebrate this amazing accomplishment, Busch Gardens Williamsburg gave it brand new trains this year, and released new merchandise to celebrate this. On the actual day itself, lots of Loch Ness Monster themed food and beverage were served, and 40th anniversary on-ride photos were for sale. It is quite an accomplishment to have a roller coaster running for 40 years, and I hope it runs for many more. I can’t wait to ride it this summer and experience another Arrow custom looper.
